A few random thoughts while I work on my next big post:
“A flower doesn’t worry about how it’s going to bloom. It just opens up and turns toward the light; that’s why it’s beautiful.” – flower stand in Chicago
As of today, I’ve driven over 4,000 miles and been in 10 states in 8 days. Now that I’ve been on the road over a week, I think back to the places in those first few posts and they feel like weeks or months ago.
“I owe, I owe, so off to work I go” – bumper sticker in Iowa
My first night, back in West Virginia, I stayed at a Motel 6 that had ZERO TRASHCANS anywhere in the room, even the bathroom. I don’t know why this bothers me so much, but I’ve literally thought about it every single day since. I now believe the economic value of a motel room ought to be based not on the number of bedrooms it has, but the number of trashcans. And I should’ve gotten a free stay in West Virginia.
